Smith, G. (2017). Recent Advances in Through Vial Impedance Spectroscopy (TVIS) for Process Parameter Determination. Podium presentation at 9th International ISL-FD Conference April 26-28 Havana, Cuba

Outline of the presentation:
The presentation starts with an introduction to through vial impedance spectroscopy and a description of the measurement system before going on to describe various TVIS applications in the following stages of the process:
1. Freezing (Ice formation and phase separation)
2. Re-heating of the frozen mass to obtain a surrogate temperature calibration based on the TVIS parameter FPEAK
3. Primary drying (Drying rate based on the TVIS parameter C"PEAK from which the product dry layer resistance and evidence of micro-collapse are determined).
